India in the Eighteenth Century (1973)
Ishwari Prasad
The 18th century is unfolded with a view of acquainting the lay reader and the professed student of history with the forces that work to bring about the fall of kingdoms and empires, the habits and attitudes which lead to the degeneration of human societies.
Considered dark ages in the 18th century great men and women of India lacked unity and national patriotism. They showed culpable readiness to sacrifice the whole for a part. Indian leaders knew nothing about modern methods of administration, printing press, industrial revolution.
India became a congeries of states which, one-by-one went under the yoke of foreign traders.
